Gaza
Armed conflicts in the Gaza Strip hardly ever quiet down. Again and again the conflicts flare up. This means that the population has been subjected to an almost permanently occurring war for multiple generations. Many are and will be continuously (re-) traumatised. The situation is especially poor for the many children and adolescents.
Inspired by friends from Israel, the first emergency pedagogy mission in the Gaza Strip took place in 2009, which though due to safety concerns had to be halted after only a few days. But aid is urgently needed, so that a few months later a team made their way once again to Gaza.
In the meantime there have been numerous missions in the Gaza Strip, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office. Many cooperation partners and especially countless new friends have been found. Again and again we visit our partners and train teachers and parents on location in emergency and trauma pedagogical methods. At the centre of our work though is always the work with the children.
