On WOW-Day, students around the world take action to support Waldorf and social initiatives. One way to participate is through a Job Day: students spend a day in a workplace, gain real-world experience and contribute the agreed proceeds of their work to a WOW-Day project.
By welcoming a young person for a day, you offer more than a workplace: you give them the opportunity to discover a profession, meet people and experience how their own commitment can make a difference.
A day of work. A day of learning. An impact that reaches further.
The idea is simple: a student joins your workplace for one day, takes on suitable tasks and experiences everyday working life. The agreed amount earned through the activity supports a WOW-Day project.
How Job Day works
The details may vary from country to country and from school to school, but the basic idea is the same everywhere.
Connect
A student contacts your organisation and asks whether they can spend their WOW-Day with you.
Agree
Together, you agree on suitable tasks, working hours, supervision and the amount connected with the activity.
Take action
The student joins your workplace, helps with meaningful tasks and gets an authentic glimpse into working life.
Create impact
The agreed proceeds are transferred according to the procedure organised by the participating school or national WOW-Day partner.
What should be agreed in advance?
A short conversation beforehand helps make Job Day a positive experience for everyone involved.
Meaningful activities
Choose age-appropriate tasks that are safe, understandable and allow the student to take part in everyday working life.
Time & supervision
Agree on arrival and finishing times, breaks and a person who will be available to support the student during the day.
Agree on the amount
Decide in advance how the student's activity will be recognised financially and how the amount will be transferred through the local WOW-Day process.
Make it a real learning experience
Job Day is not only about raising funds. It also gives young people a valuable opportunity to encounter the world of work.
Show what your work is really like
Introduce the student to your organisation, your team and your field of work. Even a short conversation about your profession can leave a lasting impression.
Let them contribute
Wherever possible, give the student practical tasks and responsibility appropriate to their age. Taking part is more meaningful than simply watching.
Important: local regulations apply
Employment law, youth protection rules, insurance requirements, taxation and contractual arrangements differ from country to country. For this reason, there is no single legal framework for Job Day worldwide.
Participating schools and employers should make sure in advance that the activity complies with the applicable regulations in their country and that questions of supervision, insurance and parental consent have been clarified where required.

Once the day is over, only a few steps remain.
