The Siyahamba Song - or in English "We are marching in the light of God", is a traditional song of the Zulu tribe that has become a well-known South African hymn. The song became an emblem of the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa and has since become a worldwide known freedom song and a symbol of peace movements. The children of Lesedi Waldorf School in Madietane, South Africa, love to sing this song and have therefore shared it with us.
This song was shared with us by the Lesedi Waldorf School in Madietane, South Africa. Madietane, in the Limpopo province, is about a four-hour drive north from Johannesburg. There, in the remoteness, the Lesedi Waldorf School has been located for 25 years. Today, 150 children attend the Lesedi School, most of them in its own boarding school. The boarding school enables especially children from the surrounding villages to attend the school, as the daily way is too far for many and most of the parents' homes cannot afford a daily transport to the school.

The collection of songs from all over the world was created as part of the single-day campaign Waldorf-One-World-Day, WOW-Day for short. On this day, children and young people are directly and actively committed to a better world. Besides, they organize a multiplicity of special donation actions, that connect humans on all continents with one another.
