HomKwan in the city of golden temples
For hundreds of years, Chiang Mai, Thailand's northernmost city, has been the economic and cultural center of the mountainous region between Myanmar and Laos . Theravada Buddhism developed here, and even today the many temples testify to this school of Buddhism, despite modern industrialization.
Chiang Mai’s first encounter with Waldorf Education took place in the 1990s, but it took until 2007 for the first Waldorf educational initiative to develop. Parents set up a kindergarten, which has now grown into an elementary school, leading up to 7th grade. Over time, more and more parents sent their children to this school, so the initiative had to move out of its private home and set up a new location. The first houses were built with bamboo, and the school has already outgrown them. Any help for the further expansion of the HomKwan School, which is financed solely by the parents, is welcome.
