The Waldorf School in the immediate vicinity of Chudjand was founded in 2002 by Rano Okhunova. The kindergarten, after-school care, and the school with its eight classes have a total of 300 children. The work of the Waldorf initiative is highly regarded, so that the parents are committed to the continued existence of the school on a political level. However, they could not change the fact that the state authorities claimed the school building and forced a move.

"On behalf of our school we would like to express our gratitude for your WOW-Day support", writes founder Rano Okhunova, "Thanks to your support we could realize many school projects: we have renovated the roof of our school and a handicraft room, we have also finished the room for German lessons. We are currently working on a big project: a curative education center and workshop for our former students with disabilities. We have already begun building the rooms. We hope that we will be able to start as early as September this year. All students and parents are already waiting for the opening of the center.

The time frame for this year’s WOW Day is from 29 September to 29 November 2020. We invite all people in curative educational and social therapeutic institutions, as well as all students at Waldorf Schools to be a part of this worldwide campaign and to organize their own WOW Day this year. 100 percent of the proceeds will be forwarded to Waldorf and social projects.
