Rudolf Steiner School Mbagathi Nairobi, is a primary school with four Kindergarten classes and nine classes from class one to class nine. The school has a small organic farm with cows and a large vegetable garden. The cows provide milk for the school children and also manure for fertilization and the compost heaps in the garden. 80 percent of the 340 children come from families who are dealing with financial instability, domestic violence, disease and alcoholism. The school fees for many of the children are raised through individual or class sponsorships and other donations every month.

Mercy Nyoki, co-worker at the Mbagathi Waldorf School, tells us how the WOW-Day donations effected on site: „The WOW donation has played a very instrumental role in helping the school upgrade its kindergarten. The donation has funded the following project areas: Installation of ceiling, extra handwash sinks, internal doors as well as paint work. Purchase of carpets, afternoon care accessories such as new mattresses and bedsheets, sandpit and garden creation and play area segregation. Your gift has and will therefore go into a worthy cause where it will be able to effect education from its early introduction stages and change many children’s destinies from the bottom up. The time frame for this year’s WOW Day is from 29 September to 29 November 2020. We invite all people in curative educational and social therapeutic institutions, as well as all students at Waldorf Schools to be a part of this worldwide campaign and to organize their own WOW Day this year. 100 percent of the proceeds will be forwarded to Waldorf and social projects.
