Guatemala, Escuela Caracol: nutritional snack’s program

Escuela Caracol is an educational institution located in San Marcos la Laguna, a small town in the western region of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. Its main priority is to offer a quality educational alternative to the local Mayan families, aiming at nurturing the expression, creativity, and humanity on our students and community.

We offer our students the levels from kindergarten to sixth grade, we also provide nutritional snacks to all of them; Guatemala is a country with a high rate of malnutrition and deep scarce of quality educational offers, that is what makes Escuela Caracol so important for our community: It helps nurture bodies and minds of the children from the western region of Lake Atitlán following the Waldorf pedagogy guides.

Juan Diego Arrivillaga from the Escuela Caracol tells us how the WOW-Day donations work on site: “The donation Escuela Caracol got from 2019's "Wow Day" helped buy the classroom’s supplies and the nutritional snack’s program for all its students for a whole school year. That is why we want to send our profound gratitude to all the people who got involved at your school during 2019's "Wow Day"; You helped Escuela Caracol promote change through education on the region of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala.”

The time frame for this year’s WOW Day is from 29 September to 29 November 2020. We invite all people in curative educational and social therapeutic institutions, as well as all students at Waldorf Schools to be a part of this worldwide campaign and to organize their own WOW Day this year. 100 percent of the proceeds will be forwarded to Waldorf and social projects.
