WOW-Day in Hungary: "WOW-Day is an integral part of the school year"

Worldwide solidarity with Waldorf institutions – that is the idea behind Waldorf-One-World, WOW-Day for short. For one day, committed people collect donations in many different ways and give the money to Waldorf facilities in need. In recent years, participation in WOW-Day has become an integral part of the school year for the Napraforgó Waldorf Általános Iskola in Debrecen, Hungary. WOW-Day coordinator Ferenc Tisch tells us how WOW-Day 2019 went:

„The children and young people have again prepared enthusiastically for the event this year. Because of the Waldorf100 event in the Municipal Cultural Centre in Debrecen, which took place in November, we decided to combine this year's Christmas market, planned for November 30th, with WOW-Day. In this way, we created a very rich, colorful and creative WOW-Day festivity, which offered visitors a wide range of programs and activities in a very warm Advent atmosphere. The enclosed pictures show how creative the students, parents, and colleagues of our school community were. We collected a total of € 425 in donations that day. The proceeds will be used to support the newly founded Rózsaház Gyógypedagógiai Waldorf Iskola, the first curative education school in Hungary, and to help them take their first steps.”

The time frame for this year’s WOW Day is from 29 September to 29 November 2020. We invite all people in curative educational and social therapeutic institutions, as well as all students at Waldorf Schools to be a part of this worldwide campaign and to organize their own WOW Day this year. 100 percent of the proceeds will be forwarded to Waldorf and social projects.
