Waldorf in northeastern Romania
The Moldavia region, the cradle of Romanian culture, is home to Romania's oldest university and has long been considered one of the country’s cultural centers. It is also the site of one of the oldest Waldorf schools of Romania. For two decades, this school persevered in spite of being provisionally accommodated in another state school, with so few rooms that the teachers were only able to teach in shifts. Teachers, students and parents stuck it out.
Now, the school has been given its own school building in an industrial suburb and has been able to develop its own identity over the last few years. Since school education in this environment is demanding, the school must prove itself through academic excellence – and has done so successfully in recent years.
Now, the aim is to bring more beauty to the somewhat drab suburb and to make the rooms and surroundings more attractive and appealing.
