Amantolli – a Waldorf School in the Mexican Highlands
There has been Waldorf education in Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city, since 1998. Five years ago, another Waldorf Elementary School was added, with the beautiful name of Amantolli, right in the center of this large industrial city.
After four moves, the Amantolli School has found a beautiful parcel of land; surrounded by high walls, overgrown with fruit trees, and with a building that is sufficient for kindergarten and school.
Parents and teachers have a friendly relationship and use the garden for afternoons spent together, for festivities and for many events for the little children. Since the school is funded exclusively through contributions from the parents, like all Waldorf Schools in Mexico, concerns about the financial survival are a constant companion, in spite of the overall lightheartedness.
