Escuela Meniñeiros: Waldorf in Galicia

Nestled in the Galician countryside is the small, inclusive school, Meniñeiros, the only Waldorf school in Galicia, which began in 2003 with a kindergarten. Since 2009, the farm and orchard have been wonderful and much-loved places for play and learning for the children in the kindergarten and school classes. Almost all the pupils come from Lugo, the oldest and most central town in Galicia, still surrounded by a wall built by the Romans in the 3rd century.
The school is small, works inclusively in all grades and cultivates close cooperation between teachers and parents. The general measures enacted due to Covid 19, and applicable to all schools, for example, the wearing of mouth and nose protection, did not meet with the understanding of all parents. The latter deregistered their children. This has left a hole in the school’s finances that could be alleviated by the Joint Action: Corona aid. Further help is welcome.
