Former Godchildren

Bonifatius Orwongo attended the Rudolf Steiner School Mbagathi in Kenya. After a short while, he realize that he was at a unique school. For him, a new world opened up, where at this Waldorf school hand work, gardening, painting and music was an important part of the lessons. "At the same time subjects like Mathematics and English, and my progress in the academics subjects was amazing. I had never experienced such a positive class combination before. To this day I am very grateful to the educational sponsors that I was able to go to Rudolf Steiner School Mbagathi." Today Bonifatius is studying accounting. He could hardly imagined this ten years ago, since he had great difficulties with numbers and mathematics.

"When I look back and remember my school days, I feel a great gratitude to the fact that I have attended and finished the Waldorf School in Dnepropetrovsk in the Ukraine. What I experienced in school developed my personality and helps me even further in my development. With all my heart, I would like to say thank you to all those people who have supported my learning and being at the Waldorf School."

Roman is currently doing an internship at an Anthroposophic Facility for Therapeutic Education in Germany. While working with people with disabilities, he realizes how much the school has given him for his life.

My mother's dream has always been that I can learn in a school where I can be free and be myself. When she heard about Steiner Schools, she knew it was the place she had been looking for. Today I am thankful that I was allowed to learn at this Steiner School. I don't think I would be the person I am today if I had attended a different school. After a few years my mother was unable to pay the school fees and we learned about the sponsorship program of the Friends of Waldorf Education. By now I am really aware that the sponsorship program enables many children worldwide to attend a Steiner School, even if their parents have little money. I received many letters from my godfather and thanks to the great help I was able to continue attending my wonderful school and graduated successfully. Through the exchange with the sponsor I learned a lot about the culture and the people in Germany. Although we never met in person, a wonderful friendship has developed. I am becoming more and more aware of the skills I learned during my school days. To respect people's differences, to appreciate nature, to understand the importance of art and craft, to be self-confident and always curious. I'm currently studying dance. When I become a successful dancer, I would like to become an educational sponsor myself.
