Arca Mundial continues to expand

In 1997, Juan Guillermo Restrepo and Sandra Dominguez met the remedial educator Franz Lehnert. Inspired by him, they decided to put their vision into practice and build up a care facility for people with physical and mental difficulties.

In Medellin they began to care for people with disabilities with afternoon activities. However, when the state decided to close all special schools and to integrate children with disabilities at ordinary schools, many of these children did no longer receive any care because they were accepted at the public schools. Now action had to be taken.

With the help of the Friends of Waldorf Education, Arca Mundial purchased a property with a building, which they use up to today to care for young people with disabilities. Despite all the difficulties that the co-workers experienced in the Colombian metropolis – they have always kept the doors open for everyone, including those whose parents could not pay a contribution fee.

Now Arca Mundial wants to erect a building for handicraft lessons and in order to achieve this goal the initiative still needs much help.
